Agricultural technology refers to technology for the production of machines used on a farm to help with farming. Agricultural machines have been designed for practically every stage of the agricultural process. They include machines for tilling the soil, planting seeds, irrigatingthe land, cultivating crops, protecting them from pests and weeds, harvesting, threshing grain, livestock feeding, and sorting and packaging the products. People who are trained to design agricultural machinery, equipment, and structures are known as agricultural engineers.
Agricultural technology is among the most revolutionary and insightful areas of modern technology, driven by the fundamental need for food and for feeding an ever-growing population. It has opened an era in which powered machinery does the work formerly performed by people and animals (such as oxen and horses). These machines have massively increased farm output and dramatically changed the way people are employed and produce food worldwide. A well-known example of agricultural machinery is the tractor. Currently, mechanized agriculture also involves the use of airplanes and helicopters.

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Agricultural Technology;
You require; Biology/Agricultural Science,
Mathematics and any three of the following:
Food and Nutrition,
At least credit passes in English Language and Chemistry are compulsory
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Agricultural Technology and Biology/Agric. Sci , Chemistry and any other Science subject

What you’ll learn
Students learn about new and tested methods of farming and using agricultural equipment. They are also often required to gain hands-on training in the field, working with actual crops or animals in an internship program or practicum course before graduation. Courses included within are often divided into classroom lecture and laboratory formats.
What you will study and when
Students are required to gain a fundamental understanding of agricultural processes and the types of equipment and tools used to grow plants, breed animals and maintain outdoor environments. Agricultural technology certificate programs contain a variety of core courses as well as electives based upon individual interests in the field. Some examples might include plant pathology, parasitology, and the following:
BSc, or undergraduate degree, in agriculture will be a three or four year course.
At the end of the study period, you will be awarded a degree of Bachelor of science degree in Agricultural Technology, you’ll be qualified to perform professional tasks in the area of qualification.
